?: Where can I find more answers?
You can access the complete mailing list archives here. I post all interesting e-mail's with questions about ledBirdXP to the list. You can do this, too: Find here how.
?: Does ledBirdXP work with e-mail client XY?
This depends on the e-mail client. If the client sets the registry key for unread mails properly, ledBirdXP will work. Many modern e-mail clients support this feature, like Thunderbird and Outlook. Best is: Try it!
?: Why doesnt ledBirdXP connect to the web?
The number of unread e-mails is stored in the Windows Registry by the commonly used e-mail clients. So ledBirdXP only checks the Registry for unread e-mails and does not have to connect to the web.
?: So I have to have my e-mail client running if I want to have LED updates?
Yes! ledBirdXP does not check for e-mails in your e-mail account by itself, it uses the status set by your e-mail client.
?: The LED is switched on/off only if I open/close Thunderbird?
Thunderbird updates the status of the unread e-mails in the Registry when it is started, closed or by default every 5 Minutes.
NEW: It seems the Thunderbird versions > 1.5.0.2 update the Registry faster.
?: I have more than one e-mail account, but ledBirdXP only reacts on the e-mails in my default e-mail account?
This happens because Thunderbird only watches the unread e-mails in the inbox of the default account. You can change Thunderbird to use the "Global Inbox" for all accounts.
?: I turned on "Hide on Autostart" but I still see the systray icon!
This option hides the icon the next time ledBirdXP is run automatically on windows start. For this you have to set the "Autostart" option on. "Hide on Autostart" does not hide the icon right after you select this option.
?: ledBirdXP indicates unread mail - but I have read all e-mails.
It is possible that there are old mail accounts left in your registry with unread mails. If you know what you do you can open the registry editor and go to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/UnreadMail
Below you can find one or more e-mail accounts. Set the "MessageCount" value for each of them to 0.
?: ledBirdXP indicates a wrong number of unread mails
The number of unread e-mails indicated in your registry is wrong. This could happen if there are old or unused email adresses and is not a lidBirdXP bug. If you know what you do you could clean up your registry under the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/UnreadMail
